Emma (Unit 30) - Evaluation

I think that my advert was fit for purpose because the company asked for a video that would speak to the target audience and to show the best things about London. The way that I did this was by speaking to someone who was part of the target audience and asked them questions about what they liked about London, how they get around and where they like to eat. The video was filmed in one of London’s most popular parks, Hyde Park, so it feels very fresh and summery while still keeping within the theme of the advert. I think that the advert does clearly communicate to the target audience. In my research I found that the target audience prefers adverts that aren’t serious but are informative which is something that I feel like I have achieved in the advert due to asking my subject to be relaxed and to give informative answers without feeling contrived. I think this gives a really nice quality to the advert. I think that the content is very effective because it is informative without feeling too bland or that there is too much information to process in one short video. For example, when talking about places to eat, Aisling doesn’t give an answer of just one place to eat but instead she names a place in London that has many options for many different people, including vegans. I think this makes for good advertising content because it is easy to retain information in this way. I do think that the content could have been even more effective if I had included more shots of places around London to break up the shots and to actually showcase more of London. There isn’t a lot of technical editing in my advert because I wanted it to be quite simple due to the information that is in it, so that the ad didn’t feel too busy. I added a photography effect when the interviewee speaks about her love of photography so that it would be a bit more interesting and I also did some colour correcting so that the shots looked nice and summery. I think that this was more effective that if I added lots of transitions because they don’t fit in with the style of advert that I was aiming for so it would not have made sense. I would say that this advert was successful in inspiring customers within the target audience to buy into what we are selling. I think that the style of the ad and the information provided really resonated with the audience. I conducted a survey to find out what the target audience actually thought of the advert and posted the link onto social media.

I got some feedback from people saying that they thought the video was very effective and that they would purchase the product that we are selling. I did get feedback from one of the survey responses saying that I should lower the background music and make the interview a little louder, so I went back and adjusted the volume in the advert.

Because of this feedback I would say that the advert was very successful.
