Emma (Unit 30) - Task Three

I have been asked to make a 2-3 minute advert promoting the company Xistlife, they are a small london based company who are trying to build their clientele with an advert promoting everything that there is to do in London with a focus on property. The advert can be comedic or serious as long as there is a focus on transport, food and activities for young people to do in London. In general, I have the freedom to develop my idea and the advert as I chose as long as it correctly reflects the company and what is plans to do. To start off the advert I do not have a budget, however if the advert is selected as the one Xistlife want to use then there may be a budget given to further develop the advert. I am expected to have completed this advertisement by the 26th May 2016. The target audience for this advert is young people between the ages of 18-25, male and female. Specifically, the advert should be aimed at young people who are moving to, or trying to find a house in London, because these are the people who will need the advert, this means that they’ll want to know about transport links to shopping areas, central london, places to eat and things to do around their area so the video should focus on that. I have conducted a survey and asked people who match the target audience to respond honestly so I know what the target audience is looking for in an advert promoting London and can create an honest and impactful advert for the company. Some of the feedback received is shown below.Untitled2.pngUntitled.png

The most important ethical issue to avoid when creating an advert is misleading the audience, this is an issue that usually resonates more when trying to sell products but it is vital not to lie to the audience and spread misinformation because that could lead to a variety of legal issues. It is also very important to avoid any problems with copyrighted ideas or music, all clips, ideas and music used in the advert needs to come with permission or be entirely my own or the advert could be removed from anywhere it’s shown and the company could be sued. The advert will be shown in various places, primarily on the Xistlife website but also in magazines that have a primarily London readership like Time Out and the Metro. Since the advert is about property and living in London it would be a good idea to show the ad between shows like Grand Designs, Location Location Location and Property Ladder since these are shows that might interest people who are looking to buy a house because they are about property investments, however because these shows might not always reach the target audience it will also be apt to place the ad on the channel London Live as then it could reach the audience the ad is looking for. I expect that this advert could raise a revenue of around £10,000 in it’s start up years as Zoopla is an established property company and it’s ads raised a profit of £28,000 in 2014.
